First Arrival2019
& Asociados was a company based in Guadalajara, Mexico, that focused on creating contemporary everyday objects. The brand’s core mission was to deliver accessible, commercially viable designs to a younger audience while decentralizing design practices away from Mexico City.

For their debut collection, I decided to recognize Guadalajara’s immense manufacturing potential by exploring over 52 local craftsmanship techniques. This extensive research was narrowed down to four key methods: wood carving, metal spinning, stoneware making, and glass molding.

Each technique was chosen for its scalability and cost-effective production. While the objects were not designed to mimic traditional heritage pieces, they inherently reflect the material culture of the region where they were crafted, embodying a contemporary narrative rooted in local craftsmanship.

His practice constantly strives to combine hyper-local landscapes with the use of advanced manufacturing techniques to produce various material experiments, which often lead to industrial design pieces, limited editions, and self-initiated projects.
